Cobalt, denoted by the chemical symbol Co and possessing an atomic number of 27, is an element that naturally occurs solely in chemically combined states. The liberated form of cobalt, achieved through reductive smelting, manifests as a resilient, glossy, silver-gray metal. Presently, a portion of cobalt is deliberately extracted from diverse metallic-lustered ores such as cobaltite (CoAsS). However, the predominant source of this element is derived as a by-product of copper and nickel mining.
